July 24 - The Big Whoosh!

Saturday July 24, 2004 – Today we drove from Halifax to Moncton. There are two attractions in Moncton: Hopewell rocks and one of only two inlets in the world that are affected by the ocean tide. We drove for the most part in the rain, again. We arrived in Moncton in time for the tidal event, in fact, we arrived around 3pm and the tide was due at 3:50, so we waited…

and waited…

and waited.

Somewhere around 4:20 a small tidal wave appeared. It was about the size of the wave you made as a kid when you kicked the side of your plastic blow-up swimming pool. We had waited in 15 C degree weather with spitting rain for about an hour and a half for this! We got back into our Model A’s laughing our selves to side aches.

The hotel is nice. It has fully functioning bathroom facilities and a flat screen TV! This is our last day in Canada; on to Maine and Bar Harbor.
